News letter

Rajpur2008.blogspot.com is the website created to track the fundraising efforts, and then the consequent journey to Rajpur, India in February/March 2008 of Claire Peacock, Fredrick Bergstrand (a Swedish national) and Tiffany McBride. They will volunteer at the Moravian Institute School run by Thsespal Kundan and his wife, Susan, who visited RTC in June of 2007 to share the good work they are doing with the support of Moravian congregations throughout the world.

The school is home to 300 destitute or orphaned children from the streets of Delhi and Rajpur as well as from the remote mountain valleys of the Himalayas. Our three young people will be helping with administrative tasks, writing letters to sponsors with the students, assisting in PE and arts classes and church activities for their 2 month mission. As well, they have asked Thsespal to provide a “Wish List” of things the school would find helpful. He suggested that they need a class set of recorders and small musical instruments, as well as small toys for 4-8 year olds.

Thsespal has offered room and board but our threesome are gathering silent and live auction items to help with a fundraiser dinner the night of NOVEMBER 17. They are hoping to raise $2000 each to pay for their return travel to India, as well as taking the Wish List items with them for Thsespal. They will be offering an evening of pictures and greetings next spring after their return to Canada and will also keep us informed with their website while overseas.
